Amazon China (B2C)

The third Chinese online shopping mall, Amazon China (B2C) will open Korean Pavilion on December. They will provide Korea-made products including household, health care, cosmetics, clothes, and baby care products and they expect there are 3,000 kinds of Korean products.

The aim of this expansion is to grow the biggest channel which has the most various products in China. They will make the prices in Chinese market the same as in Korea to attract customers. Also they are planning various promotion programs to improve awareness of Korean Pavilion.

In 2000, Amazon took a Chinese online shopping mall over and established Amazon China. Now they have about 5 million kinds of products with 28 categories. Last year the turnover was 6 billion yuan and it was up by 100 percent over a year ago. They have 11 operating offices and warehouses. Also they have a reputation for selling genuine (certified) products.

Amazon China plans to establish Korean Pavilions per each category so that customers can find Korean products easily while they search interested products. For some products, which Korean is more competitive than Chinese products, they will use "made in Korea" as a brand to promote and it will increase customers' interest.

From this expansion, both China and Korea expect to increase the trade between the two countries and Korean companies would expand their distribution channel in China. In 2011, the total volume of trade between China and Korea was 220.6 billion US dollars, up 17.1 percent year-on-year, according to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.
